Growing Lesson
This week has been a growing lesson for me. My back went out so I have had to do everything including class at a slower pace. I have had to be more aware of my body. I realized that my body is no longer a spring chicken. It is now a more of a aware body. Isn’t this practice great? The older we become the more happy we become. We become more intune with ourselves and our bodies needs. Although we face challenges, we face them with grace and a smile. For everything we do, we must do it with from our heart. Our heart is our greatest gift. We must use our hearts in such a way for everyone to feel it when you want them to feel it. Remember for every heart there is a soul and we need to touch one person everyday to reach completion.
Yes, our body has a way of making us pay attention it. I remember one evening when I was walking down some concrete steps, emotionally distraught. I tripped and fell. Though I was not hurt in the sense of breaking or spraining everything, I did experience intense pain for a few moments. Boy, did it bring my consciousness right back in my body! I really needed to focus on it in order to handle the pain. I felt better when I did that. Once my attention was on my body again, I remembered that I should be paying attention to my feet while I was walking, and not my emotions–not just to see where I was going, but because it would have also made my mind more clear and my emotions more manageable.
I, too am not a spring chicken. However, since I started practicing Dahn yoga about 5 years ago, I have watched the aging process of my body and mind actually reverse. I feel as though I am growing younger.
I have become more flexible, strong, focused, have better memory and concentration, less chronic pain (virtually none), and just feel all around unaware of my chronological age.
This phenomenon is beautifully described and predicted in Ilchi Lee’s and Dr. Jone’s book, “In Full Bloom, A Brain Education Guide For Successful Aging.” Everyone should read it and employ the methods prescribed. It really works!
